MCMA has three standing committees: Clean & Safe, Community Development and Marketing, and we welcome your participation. To inquire about joining a committee, or to confirm meeting locations, contact Kristen Mitchell at 443-478-3014 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clean & Safe Committee
P.C. Price, Legal Services Associates, Chair
Ann Winder, The Place Lounge, Co-Chair
The Clean & Safe committee meets the second Monday of the month at 10:00 a.m. The Clean & Safe committee works with a variety of partners, including city agencies, nonprofit organizations, and anchor institutions to keep Market Center clean and safe; it hosts bi-monthly meetings to ensure ongoing coordination among the entities. The committee oversees MCMA’s cleaning program, a collaboration with the Baltimore Courts’ Community Services Program, which allows MCMA to sweep the streets and picks up trash every Wednesday, complementing existing services provided by the City and Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.
Community Development Committee
Wendy Blair, Re/Max Commercial Logic, Chair
The Community Development Committee meets the first Thursday of the month at 8:30 a.m. The committee tracks development and investment activity in Market Center, including business openings, closings and expansions; it also reviews legislative and administrative proposals that impact the business district, such as changes to the zoning code, historic districts, and bus lanes. The committee promotes façade improvement grants offered by the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and Baltimore Development Corporation, as well as other resources. The committee is also working with the Downtown Partnership to provide interested businesses with inexpensive but valuable customer service training to build employees’ skills and confidence – and to boost the bottom line.
Scott Garfield, Lexington Market, Chair
Dave Wren, Lexington Business Center, Co-Chair
The Marketing Committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. The Marketing Committee produces MCMA’s quarterly newsletter, and oversees the organization’s social media, website, public relations, special events and related items. In addition to sponsoring and showcasing partner events, MCMA intends to host several events throughout the year to encourage grassroots community building and support for Market Center.
